Sustainability

The University of Pittsburgh began recycling in 1990 and our goal is to reduce landfill waste 25% from 2017 levels by 2030. In fiscal year 2024, The University of Pittsburgh diverted 49% of materials to recycling or reuse. While the University does not have a zero waste goal in place, many individuals and entities are adopting a zero waste mindset.
